The Lord's Favor

"He opened the book and found the place where it was written, 'The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me because He has anointed me...to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.'"

- Luke 4:17-19

The time had come! Jesus was sent into the world in the "fullness of time" (Galatians 4:4). At just the right time!
He came to proclaim that the time had come for God's people to experience His favor. God was opening a new chapter. This was the "acceptable year of the Lord" (NKJV), the time of His favor.
The word translated "proclaim" literally means to declare something openly, as if it already has been done. Jesus was not describing a theory, but a fact. The fact was that He had been anointed. He had been sent to let people know that this was the time for God's favor.
In the same way, Jesus was sent to let us know that the acceptable year of the Lord has taken place. When Jesus came, He wanted us to know that the time had come to experience God's favor.
He came to preach the Gospel to those in need, to heal those who are brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to those who are captives, to help those who are blind to see again, and to provide freedom for those who are oppressed.
These are the things Jesus came to do in our lives. This is why He was sent!
Today, ask God to open your mind and heart. Let Jesus be the Healer of your soul. Let Him liberate you from anything that imprisons your life.
Cry out to Him for those you know who might be broken or confused, those who might be weak in spirit or body. Believe that God can give them the strength and freedom they need.
Declare that Jesus is your Lord. Allow Him to do His work and so bring the full scope of His anointing into your life right now.
